Scramble up Shark's Tooth - Mt Aspiring National Park
9 hour hike and scramble up Shark's Tooth was one of the hightlights of the summer. Learning experience eventually let me down the mountain unharmed. The rock was loose and sketchy. It just peeled of from the mountain or slided under your feet. I'm sure there is a proper term for the kind of rock the whole mountain was made of (see last photo). It was a tiring, sketchy and mentally draining day. I loved almost every moment of it, except the parts where I had no option but to keep climbing.
Head up the mountain first as much to the right as possible and then get over the ridge. on the backside of it it's easy walking till the last pyramid where different choices present themselves. I ended up going up on the ridge and coming down on the slippery face.
