From Nelson Lake National Park to Lewis Pass - NZ

5 day hike over 100km goes throuh 3 passes. A fun experience through lush forrests with easy crossings over streams and creeks. On the way I met guys walking the entire length of NZ from north to south. They kept a good pace so we accumulated kilometers fast. Waiau pass reaches to 1870 meters and was relatively easy walking, exculding one rocky land slide just before the peak. Last 2 days I was quite low on food so had to go for a little fast. Few nuts in pocket I made it to my last hut. Last morning I reached the highway in Lewis Pass. What remained was a hitchhike ride back to St Arnaud and my car. Usually hitchhiking is easy in NZ but this time I ended up walking 10km on a winding road before a car pulled over.
